— Mr. Derkach, your charity Foundation “Our Future” is well-known for helping children and especially orphanages, but can it solve the entire problem?
— In All-Ukrainian scale, of course, no. For the time being. But I`ll certainly do what I can. To quote a famous American social activist Henry Ward Beecher, “in this world it is not what we take up, but what we give up, that makes us rich.”
I`d rather make sure at least a few orphanages and hospitals are doing well, than sit there without doing a hand`s turn or join the chorus of complaint. There is a lot an NGO can do. It was the American Relief Administration (ARA) relief supplies that saved Povolzhye population from starving to death back in 1921, not the Government. “Our Future” activities are on track, so the change we can bring about should not be underestimated”
