Members of Parliament of Ukraine, public figures, cultural figures, as well as Ukrainian journalists appealed to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew with an appeal to start an inter-Orthodox dialogue on the Ukrainian issue with the participation of all 14 Orthodox churches. This was stated in a letter to Bartholomew posted by Member of parliament Andrii Derkach on his website .

According to the authors of the letter, on the upcoming visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch to Ukraine, he is expected to provide a roadmap for real and comprehensive reconciliation of Orthodox Christians in Ukraine.

“We call for your visit to Ukraine to continue the inter-Orthodox dialogue(which you have stopped) on the Ukrainian issue with the participation of all 14 Orthodox churches, and only after that we ask you to arrive with a real package and a roadmap for real and comprehensive reconciliation of Orthodox Christians in Ukraine, and not with the aggressive and insidious “plan of Barbarossa. “. Why, as you understand, the participation of all parties of the Orthodox community of Ukraine is necessary, without replacing all the stakeholders with fake figures or all sorts of fraudsters, “- the letter says. -” I don’t want to think that the purpose of such actions is also to solve geopolitical tasks of from our country, a zone of irritation and a “red rag” for Russia, “- says the letter. “I don’t want to think that the purpose of such actions is also the solution of geopolitical tasks of making our country so-called zone of irritation and a“ red rag ”for Russia from our country,” the letter says.

According to the authors of the letter, the receipt of the Tomos led to the fact that it became a part of the political life of Ukraine and an instrument in the hands of politicians.

” Instead of the declared acquisition by the Ukrainians of their church, the receipt of the Tomos led to the fact that it became a part of the political life of Ukraine and an instrument in the shameful acts of politicians. The authors of the letter report : “Having secured the favor of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the potential military and state criminal Poroshenko, together with businessmen, under the guise of autocephaly, are bringing schism and confusion into the Orthodox family, “. – They note: ” The presenting of Tomos not only did not help the unity of Ukrainian Orthodoxy, but also brought confusion into the ranks of the former schismatics, who first united under the banner of the OCU. There are now two control centers, headed by the “Honorary Patriarch” Filaret and his implacable opponent, the former pupil – “Metropolitan” Epiphanius”.

The authors of the letter also state about the redistribution of church property, which took place after Ukraine received the Tomos.

” Did you again raise the issue of transferring church property in accordance with the illegal, immoral, fraudulent agreement of November 3, 2018 and at a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky during his official visit to Istanbul? Is Taking property away from the “healed flock” and Orthodox brothers, in your opinion, moral methods of treatment? “, – the letter notes.

The authors of the letter sent it to all the Primates of Local Orthodox Churches and reminded that “the Orthodox laity of Ukraine have already appeled to Bartholomew before the “Unification Council”, warned about the need for dialogue and the perniciousness of haste to please political interests.

The letter was signed by 28 members of parliament, public figures, cultural figures, as well as journalists, including: members of parliament Andrii Derkach and Nestor Shufrich; Honored Worker of Culture Yegor Benkendorf, Head of the Board of the “Cultural Center of Ukraine” Vladislav Baginsky; Academician and First Vice-President of the Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine Anatoly Peshko; Honored Journalist of Ukraine Vyacheslav Pikhovshek; People’s Artists of Ukraine Volodymyr Moiseenko and Volodymyr Danilets; member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine Alexander Kononov.
