In Hlukhiv area, the farmers are already refusing to keep cows because of the purchase price of milk.

There is already being a month, as the purveyors buy up this all-natural product from the agricultural people at UAH 3.50 per liter instead of the previous price of UAH  5. People in the villages rapidly take revenue hit. There is a mood spreading, that it is better to sell the cows.

According to Alexander Fursa, head of the agro-industrial development department of the Hlukhiv Regional State Administration, several companies purchase milk in Hlukhiv area, such as: “Slavia”, “Yaroslavna”, “Contact Plus” and “Basis Plus”. The representatives of all four enterprises, as one, say: we would be glad to accept the product at a higher price. It really is worth it. But dairy factories sharply reduced the purchase price, so there was such a situation.

– There is no work in the village, so we keep two cows. What is there to do? The daughter is studying on a fee basis. We are just living on this money. When they took milk for 5 UAH, we received about seven thousand a month, and now it comes out just over four. Is there a difference?! Such hard work, but so underestimated! The most offensive is that the dairies in the stores did not fall in price by a dime, but instead it becomes more expensive from time to time”, Valentina Petrovna, a resident of Banichi, says.

We walked through the stores and made sure that the price tags on the shelves with milk, butter, cheeses did not reduce the costs. At a time when a liter of milk is bought from the farmers at UAH 3.50, then on a show-window it costs UAH 22. Those who understand the situation, associate the reduction in the farm-gate price of milk with the monopoly of the companies in the regions and their possible collusion with each other. The labourers have been held hostage: the game rules changing pulled the carpet from under their feet.

– Obviously, someone earns a lot of money off us. We want to live on our own land are ready to work in the villages. But we are forced to leave families and go abroad to earn a dime. The cow requires so much hard work to earn some money off milk. But here we were abandoned again, – says Ivan Kleshchenko, who brought a woman to the market in Hlukhiv to sell the milk.

Most people sit and silently swear, but some decided to remind about their problem with the actions: thus, residents of the Burinsk district blocked the route with the hope to attract the attention of the authorities and to put up prices of milk.

Many farmers undertook to write actively to different instances. Thus, Andrii Derkach, People’s Deputy from the constituency, received 12 collective appeals. There is also an appeal from the residents of Poloshki, which was signed by 97 people.

“There is a tendency to total cutting out of cattle. The people have nothing to live for… At the local level, there are no efficient measures to normalize the situation, an urgent intervention of the acts of the President and the Government is required”, people write.

As it became known, People’s Deputy Andrii Derkach appealed to N. Klochko, Head of the Sumy State Regional Administration, Y. Terentyev, Head of the Antimonopoly Committee with a demand to “check out possible violations of the legislation by the business entities as a result of their possible collusion with regard to formation of a purchase price for milk”. By the way, earlier the People’s Deputy submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill that was supposed to enable the state to set out purchase prices for milk and monitor it. However, he was not supported by the BPP [Block of Petro Poroshenko] and “Samopomich”. The bill has not been become law.

Now villages are rumored that the cost of UAH 3.50 per liter is not the limit, and in summer, the milk price can fall to UAH 3.

“Let my cow be this summer, but I’ll sell it out in the autumn. There is no sense to keep it: either I bring the cheese and sour cream like a present for children in Kyiv for six months, or I`ll buy from a neighbor. Since you cannot earn money off milk”, the man in the market shares his plans.
